Margaret and Emma is founded on the mission of helping women improve their lives by providing them with a means to make a living. Each woman that works with us has a unique story. She is bold, she is determined, and she is valued. We cherish our family, and part of our mission is to share their stories.

Meet Annet:

"Having Margaret & Emma think about our livelihood is very promising and we are ready to make many crafts." - Annet

Annet Tushabe is a 32 year old mother of three. She was married young because her family was unable to afford school fees. Annet works hard making beautiful baskets to make sure she can send her children to school. She knows that education is key in her children's future, and saves her income to pay school fees, and pay for their basic needs.

Annet is from Nfasha village in the Rubanda District of southwestern Uganda. In fall of 2017, Nfasha village was hit by large floods. The floods killed 17 people, and destroyed the crops. The Nfasha women's group had used their savings fund to purchase seeds, but those crops were lost. Margaret & Emma was able to purchase all of their crafts in order to have money to support their families through the rainy season.

Annet is happy to be a part of the women's group. Without the group, she would not have learned to make crafts, and would have to rely solely on agriculture as her income. Now she is able to support her family even when crops fail. The group also helps Annet to have a support system of hardworking women in all stages of life.

Annet is a positive force in the group. She is vibrant, compassionate, and eager to learn new skills. She has mastered basket weaving, and is hoping to learn other skills. We are proud to have Annet in the Margaret & Emma family.
