Margaret and Emma is founded on the mission of helping rural women improve their lives by providing them with a means to make a living. Each artisan that works with us has a unique story. They are bold, they are determined, and they are valued. We cherish our family, and part of our mission is to share their stories.
Meet Angela:

Angela is the chairwoman of the Muko group. She was forced to drop out of school in Primary 4 due to a lack of funds. Her mother passed away when she was young, so she had a lot of responsibilities at home.
As an adult, Angela was married young, and has nine children; 4 boys, and 5 girls. Her husband helps around the home but is often sick. She grows crops, weaves baskets, and makes bracelets to support her family. Angela is the main source of income for her family. She works hard to ensure her children have school fees, and saves what she can so she can build a better house for her family.
Below is an excerpt from our interview with Angela:
M&E: What do you like about being part of a women’s group?
Angela: I am able to work and save better when I am a part of a whole group of women.
M&E: What advice would you give other women?
Angela: I advise other women to join women’s groups. It is through these groups that one gets connected to a better whole of the community.
M&E: What would you like the world to know about your community?
Angela: My community is a peaceful and loving place to be. It is a place where togetherness makes life a whole lot easier.

Thank you Angela for leading the Muko group, and for working so hard to foster a strong community. We are happy to have Angela as a part of the Margaret & Emma family.
